New Recipe - Paleo Slow Cooker Turkey Marinara Sauce (Whole30)

Paleo Slow Cooker Turkey Marinara Sauce (Whole30)

Course: Dinner/Lunch
Prep Time: 15 mins
Cook Time: 4 hours and 15 mins
Servings: 8 

Ingredients:

Avocado Oil
1 lb Ground Turkey 
3 links of Sweet Italian Turkey Sausage 
1 red pepper
1 small sweet onion
2 to 4 carrots, peeled and chopped
1/2 to 1 c fresh mushrooms, chopped into small pieces 
2 garlic cloves - minced
1 - 28 oz can crushed tomatoes with basil
1 - 14 oz can diced tomatoes 
1 - 6 oz can tomato paste
1 bunch of fresh basil chopped 
2 tbsp. dried Italian herbs 
2 tbsp. dried oregano
2 bay leaves  
Salt and Pepper

Directions:
1.  Preheat a medium skillet on low/med with 1 to 2 tbsp. Avocado oil, add the peppers, onion, carrots,  mushrooms and garlic to the pan and sautée for 3 to 5 minutes until the vegetables are soft and almost cooked. 
2. Next add the ground turkey and sweet Italian sausage to the vegetables and crumble with a spoon.  Cook for another 5 to 8 minutes until the meat is cooked all the way through. 
3. When the meat is cooking, add the remaining ingredients  to your slow cooker, when the meat and vegetables are cooked, add them to the slow cooker with the tomato mixture and stir everything until well combined.
4.  Cover and cook on low for 4 hours, you can stir the sauce halfway through or after it's done cooking.  
5.  Serve when ready with cooked spaghetti squash, zucchini or sweet potato noodles. ENJOY!
