DIY Easy Farmhouse Table Center Piece

It’s been a while since I have done my own center piece project, so I was very excited to put a new one together for our new front living room.  The theme for our room is a Farmhouse style and since our coffee table finally arrived for the middle of the room I could now look at the whole room and see what I wanted to do to decorate and add some color.  So off to Hobby Lobby I went to go and look around at a few floral colors and then some stainless steel pieces like trays, cans and buckets.  I started picking out a few things and piecing them together in the middle of the store to see how everything would come together, that is when I found certain pieces I loved and knew what I was going to do.  I picked up three candle holders, one big one that had a glass container and stainless steel on the outside with beautiful rope, then next to that were two smaller candle holders that were teal and had a different design but I loved the color.  Then I found the small stainless steel tray that was the perfect size and color of what I was looking for so I picked that up too.  Next was trying to decide on the colors of the flowers as it was between Teal or Yellow and White after trying both of them I absolutely fell in love with the yellow and white as that reminded me of being in the country.  I also ended up picking up a bag of grayish larger stones to fill in the center piece to add a little different color.  Now it was time to head home and put it all together and try it out on the new table.

Once I got home I laid everything out and then decided where I wanted each piece to go, I decided to put the two tear green candle holders closer to the handles of the stainless steel tray I got and then I put the bigger stainless steel round candle in the middle.  I filled that up with some of the grayish large rocks, placed the three bouquets of the yellow and white flowers inside and then finished filling it with the rest of the grayish stones.  I found two old white candles that I put inside of the teal candle holders for now to fill them up.   I will be looking for sales for the LED flame less candles when they go on sale to replace the real ones as they are much pretty and I can actually use those vs the real candles.

This whole project took me less than 5 minutes to put together but if you include the set up, pulling off the tags and putting felt on the bottom of the tray the whole thing took me 10 minutes tops.  Everything in this picture (besides the candles) was 50% off at Hobby Lobby so after figuring out each piece this whole thing cost me under $55.00.  I had been looking at center pieces that were in the range of $150.00 to $300.00 so to have this cost me 1/3 of the price was worth it.  I’m very happy with how it turned out and absolutely loved how it added color to our room but didn’t take away from the beautiful color of the table.

Easy DIY Christmas Center Piece for under $15

It’s that time of year again, when everyone gets busy decorating their homes with Christmas Cheer. I absolutely love this holiday and all that comes with it, especially when it comes to creating and crafting it's right up my ally for sure. Today’s project was working on my Center piece for my dining room table to change things up this year.

I had a left over red container from last year that was used for a gift I received and instead of throwing it out I decided to keep it and reuse it, I wasn't sure what to use it for but I thought it might come in handy one day.  I took it out of the closet the other day and decided it would be perfect to use for this year’s Christmas center piece.  I ended up finding some red ribbon and white tissue paper to use along with it.  I did purchase the flowers and pine cone arrangements from the Dollar Store to help keep costs low and to make it simple.

I started by laying out all the materials to see what I had and then started piecing it together, it was very easy once I got started.  Then I used the white tissue paper to stuff in the middle to hide the white foam and the stems, then I took the red ribbon and wrapped the inside just to add a little more decoration.  From far away no one may notice it but as you get closer it adds a nice touch to it.  I was all finished in less then 10 mins, it was really that easy and cost me less then $15.00.  I absolutely loved how it turned out and it fit perfectly on my dining room table.   Happy Holiday Crafting Everyone!!!

DIY Kitchen Flower Center Piece for under $25

I have been trying to find a nice center piece for our kitchen table, it's been rather challenging so I decided to be creative and make my own.  I found a beautiful rectangle basket at Hobbly Lobby that matched the same one as my fall basket so I bought it in two different sizes.  The basket was 50% off, regular price was $11.99 which means I only paid $5.99 for it.  Then I bought the green form for inside the basket to stick the flowers in and the brown ribbon to use for inside and around the outside of the basket to add a little swag to it.  Both of those items were also 50% off...love finding a good bargain especially on small projects.  I did look at the flowers at Hobbly Lobby however they were not on sale and not worth paying full price for what I wanted so I decided to go to Dollar Tree instead and see what they had.  I found a bunch of white floral arrangements along with some colored flowers that I thought would like to nice together, at a $1 a piece I couldn't go wrong so I bought a bunch of them.
Once I got home I placed everything on the table and then started piecing it all together, I first started by cutting the green foam pieces to have them fit exactly in the basket, then I starting placing the flowers in a few at a time to see what I liked, once the flowers were placed I then took the ribbon and starting intertwining them in the flowers and along the edge to complete my center piece.  The whole project cost me just under $25.00 and took about 10 to 15 minutes of my time.

I love how it turned out, it was very easy to make and the nice part is I can change out the flowers anytime I want.  I will continue to keep an eye out at Hobbly Lobby but for now it will work.  Happy Crafting!!!

Reusing Old Candle Jars

I absolutely love candles especially Gold Canyon Candles, I use them all year round and in all different sizes.  My wonderful consultants Deonna gave me the idea of cleaning them out to keep and reuse by saving them for things around the house.  I just finished using up one of my big jar's from a fall scent I had.  After discarding any leftover wax, I then put hot soapy water in it and let it sit overnight.  The next day I take a Mr. Clean cleaning sponge and wipe the entire jar out, it works so well especially with all the black on the top, it comes right off.  For this jar I decided to reuse it for my Epson Salts and displayed it next to my bath tub.  I now have a nice little spa set up with towels, Lavender Sugar Scrub, Lavender Fizz Ball, Epson Salt and a Lemon Scented Candle.

I also had a small jar that I have been keeping but had not decided what to use it for.  I use to have a jar for Q-Tips but it broke, so what better way to use my small jar as Q-Tips are small and fit perfectly in it.  It can be used with a lid or without it and it didn't cost me anything extra.

I don't keep too many things but I do keep these jars as they are wonderful to reuse for the house or gifts.  Happy Home Decorating.

DIY Guest Bathroom Baskets

While on my shopping adventure today, I came across two small baskets one was solid white and the other was brown with a cream liner in it.  Since they were also 50% off, I decided to pick them up and use them for our guest bathrooms.  I don't know about any of you but when we travel or my husband travels we always take home the travel size shampoo, conditioners, lotions, soaps and shower caps, these are great to keep for when we have guests at our house.  I have them all stored away under a sink and would love to have them out on display for our guests to access in case they forgot anything or run out.  I decided to create my own guest bathroom baskets, here is what I came up with.

For the first basket that is brown with the cream liner in it, I rolled a white hand towel and a white face cloth and placed them in first, then I added a shower cap, shampoo, lotion, conditioner bottles and a facial bar.  It was that easy and came out perfect for our guest bathroom.  Here is the finished product which only cost me $6.00.

Next was the solid white basket, I rolled a white hand towel and a white face cloth and placed them in the basket first, then I added shower gel, shower cap, shampoo, lotion and conditioner bottles.  It was also easy and only took a few seconds, it too came out adorable and is perfect for when guests arrive.  This basket was placed in our pool bathroom which is all white, it matched very well.  Here is the finish product which only cost me $3.50.

Love adding little touches like these to our house.  Happy Decorating!!!

Hobby Lobby Findings - 50% off Items

I'm not a huge shopper but when I get in the mood watch out.  I went to one of my favorite places Hobby Lobby, today's mission was to go and look at flowers as I'm working on making my own floral arrangements for my Kitchen table and Dining Room table.  Unfortunately for me the flowers were not on sale today, they will be 50% off on Monday which means another trip to Hobby Lobby on Monday.  I did find the baskets for the floral arrangements and they where 50% off, score for me.  I also came across a few wall hangings that were also 50% off.  The first item I found was perfect for my entry way in my house as I love swirls and it matched another piece I have. Next I found this dog sign which grabbed my attention right away as it reminded me of our Vizsla Kona who is always giving us love and I couldn't help by self so I had to have it.  The last sign will be going up in our kitchen by our table as it reminds me of my amazing family and how we always do everything together.  Even though I didn't get what I was suppose too, I managed to walk out with a few extra findings at half off.  Happy Decorating!!!
